Guillermo Gómez Peña Keynote Address - 2002

Guillermo Gomez Pena photo

Those who attended the 2002 CSTI Banquet enjoyed a riotously funny, yet scathingly topical keynote address by Guillermo Gómez Peña of Pocho Nostro. Gómez and his colleagues in Pocho Nostro had entertained and provoked CSTI participants the night before with their performance piece Mexotica that looked at issues of cultural appropriation and fetishization and racism.

For those who missed this outstanding keynote, you can now enjoy it in its entirety in QuickTime format. Because of its length we have broken it up into 6 separate files. Warning!!! We guarantee that you will explode with laughter!

Guillermo Gómez Peña Keynote 1—"I would like to introduce myself by sharing with you my criminal identity profile." 19 mb

Keynote 2—"Luckily Mexico has offered to send some emergency food supplies." 16 mb

Keynote 3—"Since it is practically impossible to monitor everything they have devised a process that..." 19mb

Keynote 4—"Imaginary Political Speech #5: Dear citizens of the milleniel barrio." 13mb

Keynote 5—"Mexico and the US look more and more like one another and less and less like you and I. Which we means we are no longer foreigners to one another." 14mb

Keynote 6—"The crucial question is which is the new intersection between art and politics? We're looking for it." 13mb
