Jeannie LaFrance is the Director of Act for Action-Theater for All.
Jeannie LaFrance is the Director of Act for Action-Theater for All, based in Portland Oregon. Act for Action was founded in 1998 and uses theater and teaches others to use theater as a form of community building, education and social change. Jeannie has written, directed, acted in and produced over fifty theatrical performances. Recent shows include, “An Audacious Faith”, detailing the history of human rights activism in Oregon, “Hay Problemas en Tualatin High”, bringing together Latino and non-Latino students in order to address issues of racism, and “You Were Always Welcome Here”, which tells the story of four transgendered people and their struggles around religion and spirituality. Jeannie also coordinates Portland Community College’s Illumination Project, a nationally recognized peer education theater and campus diversity program and has published The Illumination Project: A Guide to Creating an Interactive Theater Program at Your College or University.
