Getting Around
Western States Center will not be providing transportation from the airport to Reed College. Please use our public transportation system or car-pool in a cab or shuttle. Thanks!
Reed College
Reed is located at 3203 SE Woodstock in a residential neighborhood in Southeast Portland, five miles from the downtown area and twelve miles from the Portland International Airport. The campus is easily accessible from downtown locations, major highways, and the airport by bus, car, taxi or airport shuttle. Reeds major bus route is the #19 which runs into and out of downtown Portland. Buses to and from the airport, bus #12, can be caught downtown.
Public Transportation (Tri-Met)
Tri-Met is the public bus system. Bus fares are $1.15 for adults, $.85 for youth under 18, $.55 for honored citizens, and children under 6 ride free with a fare-paying rider. If you have a disability or other special need that complicates your ability to use public transit, please contact us ASAP at 503-228-8866.
Travel time from the airport to Reed is approximately an hour and a half. The bus routes to and from Reed involve transferring once downtown. To get from the airport to downtown or from downtown to the airport, catch the #12. To get from downtown to Reed or from Reed to downtown, catch the #19. We are enclosing bus schedules for the #12 and #19, however, if you need to find out when the next bus runs, call 503-238-7433 or go online to Tri-Met.
From the Airport to Reed College:
A great deal of construction is under way at the airport. Inquire at the information booth to find out where to wait for the #12 bus heading downtown, or "To Portland." Take the bus downtown and get off at 5th and Stark. Walk north a block to 5th and Oak, and wait for the #19 bus. Catch the #19 bus and get off at either 28th and Woodstock or 39th and Woodstock. Reed is located at 3203 SE Woodstock, between 28th and 36th.
From Reed College to the Airport
Catch the #19 bus heading downtown outside Reed on the south side of campus, near the main gate. Wait for the bus on the north side of Woodstock on 28th or 39ththe bus should read "To Portland." When you reach downtown, get off the bus at 6th and Main. Wait at 6th and Main for the #12 bus heading to the airport. Get off the bus at the Portland International Airport.
Shuttle Services (to and from the airport and Reed College)
Travel time is about 30 minutes. Shuttle times vary, so please call the shuttle services directly if you have questions. Advanced reservations are recommended.
Taxi Cabs
The fare from the airport to/from Reed is approximately $20-25. Once you exit the baggage claim area of the airport, the taxi area is located just after the median strip of the arrivals throughway. There is a sign and you should see taxis parked. Ask the driver to take I-205 to the Foster Road exit, merge onto SE Foster Rd, turn left onto SE 82nd Ave/OR-213, then turn right onto SE Woodstock Blvd towards Reed College. Travel time is 20 to 30 minutes.

By Automobile
From the north: just north of Vancouver, Washington, take the I-205 exit from I-5 and follow I-205 south into Oregon. Exit at Powell Boulevard. Turn right (west) on Powell and drive to 39th Avenue. Turn left (south) on 39th and drive to Woodstock Boulevard. Turn right on Woodstock and drive down to campus, just a few blocks past the 39th Avenue intersection. Reeds parking lot will be on the right.
From the south: from I-5, take the Ross Island Bridge exit and follow the signs to the Ross Island Bridge. Cross the bridge (you are now on Powell Boulevard) and travel to 39th Avenue. Take a right on 39th Avenue and drive to Woodstock Boulevard. Turn right on Woodstock and drive down the hill to campus. Reeds parking lot will be on your right.
From the east: from I-84, take the I-205 south exit. Follow I-205 south to the Powell Boulevard exit. Directions from here are as above in the From the north.
