ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES FROM A NATIVE PERSPECTIVE Native rights to the land, water and fishing in our region often come into conflict with environmentalist agendas for preservation. We'll explore the current controversy over dams and salmon restoration, the fight to protect treaty-reserved fishing rights, and ways in which the various environmental, economic and political stakes and interests play off against each other. |
RACE AND EQUITY IN LAND USE This workshop will provide a crash course in how land use planning and development are related to struggles over environmental justice, gentrification and displacement, and living wage jobs. THE 21st CENTURY WAR ON REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS This workshop will explore the concept of "choices" and "rights" within the women's movement in the U.S. Participants will examine the many ways reproductive rights have been attacked and weakened and affected by race and class. TOXIC-FREE COMMUNITIES This workshop will examine the lessons learned in the development of the Toxic Free Neighborhoods Campaign of the Environmental Health Coalition (EHC).
