MARGO ADAIR weaves together political, psychological and spiritual perspectives towards personal, interpersonal and societal healing. She co-founded Tools for Change (www.toolsforchange.org), a multicultural organization, which has been offering anti-oppression training, mediation, leadership development and vision building to social change organizations for three decades. Their work weaves together deep reflection, story and dialog empowering people to view their experience through historical and cultural lenses. In addition, Margo is the developer of Applied Meditation, an elegant technique synthesizing work with intuition, imagination, and mindfulness that has changed the lives of thousands of individuals. Margo is the author of Working Inside Out and co-author of The Subjective Side of Politics.

AMALIA ANDERSON has over 12 years of community organizing and community education experience and is the Project Director for the Main Street Project and the Co-Director of Raíces, a four-state Rural Latino Capacity Building Initiative. She serves on the boards of Take Action MN, Indigenous Women's Network and La Escuelita and is a steering committee member of the National Media Justice Network. amalia
ASPEN BAKER is a leading voice in the nation on the personal experiences of women post-abortion. She is co-founder and Executive Director of Exhale, the nation's only organization dedicated to promoting post-abortion health and well-being. In 2005 she was named "Young Executive Director of the Year" by the Young Non-profit Professionals Network and one of the nation's "Top Activists Under 30" by ChoiceUSA in 2003.

ALISA BIERRIA is a rad Black woman in the national collective of INCITE! Women of Color Against Violence and a community member of CARA / Communities Against Rape and Abuse based in Seattle.

CALIFORNIANS FOR JUSTICE is a statewide grassroots organization working for racial justice by building power within communities that have been pushed to the margins of the political process. They organize youth, immigrants, low-income people and communities of color in order to improve their social, economic and political conditions. amalia
ANN CATON is Lead Organizer with the Youth Education Alliance in Washington, DC. They organize DC public high school students to demand a high-quality education. Ann came into the field of youth organizing through YouthAction and helped launch Young Women United, which organizes women of color to demand health and safety in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
TERI CLARK has been involved in Sisters in Action for two years. She works to develop the leadership, organizing and critical analysis skills of girls ages 11-17. She has helped raise awareness on the negative effects of No Child Left Behind through classroom presentations, community awareness rallies and face-to-face meetings with district officials. teri

AMY DUDLEY is an organizer and program director at Rural Organizing Project, focusing on inclusive democracy and racial and economic justice ally work. Amy is on the Board of CAUSA, Oregon’s immigrant rights coalition, and serves as an advisory board member to Street Roots, a grassroots newspaper led by and for the poor and homeless in Oregon. amy
RONA FERNANDEZ is Director of Administration and Fundraising at Californians for Justice, a statewide grassroots organization of youth and parents working for racial justice in public schools. She has ten years of fundraising experience as a board member, development staffer and executive director for small social justice nonprofits.
NAYANTARA MEHTA is an Attorney Trainer at the Alliance for Justice's West Coast Office, in Oakland, CA. She researches, writes, and conducts trainings on the advocacy rules for public charities. (This trainer was originally ERIC GOROVITZ). alliance
AUBREY HARRISON graduated with a BA in Gender Studies and Literary Arts from Brown University. While in college, she was an executive board member of Brown's Queer Alliance and facilitator of a support group for LGBTQ students. She recently joined the staff of Basic Rights Oregon as a field organizer for Portland and Washington County.

CHRISTINE HILL recently graduated from the Latin American and Latino/a Studies and Sociology Departments at the University of California at Santa Cruz. Over the last 2 years she has worked with the Global Information Internship Program and Progressive Technology Project as an intern, training nonprofit organizers in technology skill-building workshops. christine
CATHY HOWELL has been an organizer and trainer in community and labor work for over 30 years in the Southern US and in Oregon. She currently does leadership development for the AFL-CIO, works with the National Organizers Alliance and lives in North Carolina. howell

PRISCILLA HUNG is Co-Director of the Grassroots Institute for Fundraising Training (GIFT) and the Grassroots Fundraising Journal, which help social justice organizations raise money to strengthen their work. They do this through internships and training programs for people of color, consulting, publications, web-based resources and the national Raising Change conference.

KAYSE JAMA joined Western States Center in June 2005 under a New Voices Fellowship. Born into a nomad family in Somalia, Kayse left when the civil war erupted. Compelled by the attacks against immigrants and refugees post 9/11, Kayse founded the Center for Intercultural Organizing to bring cross-cultural solidarity to the struggle for political, social and economic justice. kayse
KALPANA KRISHNAMURTHY is a Field Director and the RACE Program Director at Western States Center. From 2002-2005, she directed the Third Wave Foundation, which works nationally to support the next generation of young women activists. Prior to Third Wave, Kalpana organized around reproductive health and justice and young women's empowerment. kalpana
SUJIN LEE has worked as an organizer, facilitator and program director for over ten years. As the Alliance Building Director for Movement Strategy Center, she helps organizations become more strategic, sustainable and collaborative. She was Community Fellow at Tides Foundation from 2003-2005, and is currently a board member of Asian Pacific Environmental Network.

JESSICA LEE received a BA from The Evergreen State College in 2002, where she was an organizer for the Women of Color Coalition. She then joined Planned Parenthood of Western Washington doing both community and patient education and clinical work up until July of 2006. Currently she works for Basic Rights Oregon as Youth Organizer for the field team.

ARIF MAMDANI joined Progressive Technology Project three years ago after two years as a Circuit Rider with the Low Income Network and Communications Project. Not one to use technology for the sake of technology, Arif loves his paper calendar, 3x5 index card "Palm Pilot" and believes that technology is only useful for community organizing if it helps build power.

MOOF MAYEDA, Senior Field Organizer for The Task Force, began doing campaign work in 2003 to defeat a racist ballot initiative. She has campaigned in nine different states and helped defeat two consecutive anti-choice parental notification ballot measures in California. Currently, Moof is working with coalition partners on Let California Ring, a public education campaign on marriage equality.

SHANICE MAYES joined Sisters in Action for Power over two years ago, and helped to coordinate consciousness-raising activities at busy intersections in the community. As the youngest member ever to join Sisters, Shanice has spent time doorknocking in the community to get other young women involved, fundraising and conducting presentations.

CATHERINE HAN MONTOYA is Program Coordinator for the Emerging Latino Communities Initiative for the National Council of La Raza. Her expertise is in state policy analysis focusing on immigration and education; organizational development for community-based organizations; and state ballot initiatives and issue campaigns.

MARIA NAKAE joined Asian Communities for Reproductive Justice in June 2006 as Alliance Building Coordinator under the New Voices Fellowship. Maria's previous experience includes community-based research, outreach and program development in low-income communities of color on a wide range of issues including reproductive health, domestic violence, parenting and child development and mental health. nakae
The NATIVE AMERICAN YOUTH AND FAMILY CENTER in Portland, Oregon works to enrich the lives of Native youth and families through education, community involvement and culturally specific programming. They provide family support, activities to enhance cultural identity, and opportunities for positive learning experiences.

DANA GINN PAREDES, Organizing Director for Asian Communities for Reproductive Justice, has worked for social justice organizations for over 10 years on campaigns to ensure police accountability, protect affirmative action and improve public transportation. Currently, Dana is a Fellow with the Women's Policy Institute and on the advisory committee for Spirit in Motion.

LUPITA PATTERSON has been teaching and doing theater for 20 years. As a Mexican immigrant woman, she has faced the challenges that living in a different country and within a different culture can present. Understanding these challenges has given her the unique abiltiy to support others' issues through her transformative art.

KENYA PIERCE is board chair of the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada and a leader within their People of Color Caucus and Racial Justice Committees. She is a social worker, tenured sociology professor, and co-founder of TRENDZ, a youth mentoring organization. kenya

VALERIE REUTHER began major gifts fundraising as Director of Development for Infact, where she led face-to-face fundraising efforts that increased the major donor income from $45,000 to $450,000 in three years. Valerie worked as the Executive Director of Social Justice Fund NW and of the Lesbian Resource Center in Seattle. Since 1997, she has been an independent consultant with social change organizations.

TYONNA ROUNDS has been a leader in Sisters in Action for Power for over two and a half years, and currently focuses on strengthening girls' leadership and organizing skills. She recently represented Sisters in Action on a delegation to Guatemala, where she had the opportunity to support local women in their struggle for labor justice. tyonna
EVELINE SHEN has worked in reproductive justice, environmental justice and community development for over 16 years, using core strategies of community and youth organizing within communities of color for self-determination. She is currently the Executive Director of Asian Communities for Reproductive Justice. DAVID SOLNIT is an arts organizer and puppeteer who uses culture, art, giant puppets and theater in mass mobilizations, popular education and as an organizing tool. He has worked with farmworker, union, environmental justice, immigrant rights, anti-war, and human rights groups and is the author of Globalize Liberation and co-author of Army of None.

ROMEO SOSA is a Guatemalan Mayan with a vast array of experience in grassroots organizing. He worked as a researcher and organizer at Aguqa del Pueblo, Guatemala and advocated for displaced people at la Organizacion de Servicios de Solidaridad, Mexico. STRATEGIC CONCEPTS IN ORGANIZING AND POLICY EDUCATION (SCOPE) is a social and economic justice organization based in South Los Angeles. The mission of SCOPE is to build the power of communities most affected by poverty, racism and discrimination in order to achieve social and economic justice.

AIMÉE THORNE-THOMSEN brings passion as a social justice activist and her extensive experience in organizational development, leadership and communications to her role as Executive Director of the Pro-Choice Public Education Project. KELLEY WEIGEL is a Field Director at Western States Center and coordinates the civic engagement work of the Center including the Voter Organizing Training and Empowerment (VOTE) Project. Kelley brings over 15 years experience in grassroots community organizing, ballot initiative fights, and political engagement in Oregon and around the West. Her past work includes being co-director of the Rural Organizing Project and staff at the Community Alliance of Lane County.

MARCY WESTERLING, Director of Rural Organizing Project, is a leader in organizing, educating, and mobilizing grassroots activism to promote inclusive democracy and justice in rural communities. Marcy founded ROP in 1992 and is a 2003 recipient of a Leadership for a Changing World award.

She has more than 25 years' experience as a community organizer, campaign manager and political consultant, focusing on building political power for under-represented communities.
