Western Progressive Leadership Network

Alone, few organizations can win significant policy reform. Working together, they can have a much broader impact.

The Western Progressive Leadership Network helps build relationships and develop common strategies among community, environmental, labor, social justice and other public interest organizations to address vital public policy issues.  The program supports the development of permanent, multi-issue statewide coalitions, and provides training and strategic support that builds the capacity of informed communities to participate in the public policy process and in elections.

Four statewide coalitions have been formed in our region that link groups representing women's issues, working people, environmentalists, gays and lesbians, low- income people, people of color and educators. They address the issues facing the West in which everyone has a stake.

Voter Organizing Training and Empowerment (VOTE) Project:

The Voter Organizing Training and Empowerment (VOTE) Project: Our Communities Count is the Center's strategy for sustainable organization building during a time of intense national focus on the electoral process.  Everyone is gearing up for 2004.  The Center will work with grassroots constituency-based organizations interested in developing year-round political education and leadership development structures that complement their missions to be effective in 2004 and beyond.  Too often the political process is one that organizations feel they must react to, rather than draw strength from and the VOTE Project seeks to change that formula.  Click here to learn more about the VOTE Project.
