Join us in Spokane, Washington this September for the 2019 Activists Mobilizing for Power (AMP) conference, Western States Center’s flagship leadership development convening. Every two years, AMP attracts hundreds of social justice leaders from across the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West states for three days of shared learning and opportunities to develop our relationships, skills, and analysis. AMP 2019 is presented by the Sierra Club, our local host is Greater Spokane Progress (GSP), and the event is coordinated with support from GSP and their founding member organization, the Peace and Justice Action League of Spokane (PJALS). We hope you can make it!

Registration for AMP 2019 is now closed.

After a 30-year history of hosting AMP in Portland, we’re thrilled to launch AMP 2.0 with a new regional model and feature Spokane as our inaugural host. We’re excited to showcase the vibrant local organizing by GSP, a collaborative network of 40 organizations, and their member and partner groups.

This year’s theme is Democracy Under Siege and program content will focus on sharing cutting edge tools and case studies from our region for effective strategies to counter white nationalism and defend inclusive democracy, in addition to popular skill building, racial equity and gender justice tracks.

Full-day skill building and intensive political education workshops continue to be a hallmark of AMP. This year, participants can also expect to choose between a select number of half-day workshops and 90-minute panels. Specific workshop selections will be available closer to the conference and will span five intersectional tracks: Confronting White Nationalism, Defending Democracy, Gender and Racial Equity, Skill Building, and Arts, Culture and Narrative Shift. In addition, several movement leaders will be featured as keynote speakers during meals.

Presenters are being confirmed every day and AMP attendees can expect the same energizing, intersectional, and one-of-a-kind movement-building conference experience that you've always known and loved AMP to be. Sneak preview of confirmed presenters: Alliance for Justice; Cambridge Heath Ventures; Equality Labs; Montana Human Rights Network; More Equitable Democracy; National Institute for Reproductive Health; Glenn Harris, president of Race Forward and publisher of Colorlines; West End Strategy Team; Maurice Mitchell, National Director of the Working Families Party; Mohammed Al Samawi, Author of The Fox Hunt: A Refugee’s Memoir of Coming to America; Scot Nakagawa, Senior Partner at ChangeLab; and many more.
